My mom is the definition of selfless. Her sacrifices, big and small, are the reason I’ve been able to chase a life full of purpose, play, and passion. My dad? A real-life American GI Joe. A Special Forces veteran who taught me more than just how to be tough—he taught me how to feel tough. One of the best lessons he ever gave me was this: "That nervous, shaky feeling in your body? That means you’re ready. That means you care." As someone who’s done her fair share of wild things— moving to a city I’ve never been to (#Bangkok), quitting a safe 9–5, diving with sharks, jumping out of airplanes, teaching yoga to rooms full of strangers, launching a business from scratch—people often ask how I stay calm or “find the courage.” The truth? I don’t. At least, not in the way you might think. I’m usually shakin’ in my boots. Wondering what the heck I just signed up for. But I’ve learned to stop seeing fear as a red flag—and instead start seeing it as proof I’m ready. Fear means I’m stepping into something that matters. That I’m present. That I’m about to grow. The leap is always scary. And if it isn’t? Maybe it’s not big enough. So if you’re facing something “scary” right now… A new job, a big move, a hard conversation—whatever it is: Feel the fear. And do it anyway. You’re more ready than you think.
